Above Town Bed and Breakfast central Wellington near Cable Car Victoria University
We are Maria and Michael Phelan and we welcome you.
To our overseas guests we are a home-away-from-home. We are within walkable distance from Rugby World Cup games at the Westpac Stadium or catch Wellington's Cable Car.
To students doing short-term courses at Victoria University or attending a conference, we are very handy to the Kelburn Campus.
For Mums and Dads of VUW students, we are a friendly alternative to a downtown hotel.
For New Zealanders attending events down town, the Stadium or visiting relatives in Wellington, we are so well located.
Guestroom and facilities
Spacious and stylish is a good description. Because the guest room has its own entrance and is separately attached to our home, it means you can have a sense of privacy and, at the same time, feel welcome in our home. There is plenty of room to spread out; books and papers if you are a VUW student or an overseas guest taking the opportunity to re-organise the bags.
A comfortable superking sized bed with quality linen can be converted to twin/singles. A double futon provides for an extra guest/s. There is an en suite bathroom with shower, toilet, heated towel rail and hair drier. Go to “images” and “rooms/products” for further descriptions and room tariff
Location - a central city suburb
Kelburn is a quiet suburb situated on the hills above the city centre - so easy to find. Coming by car, Kelburn is well sign posted. We are on a wide street with street parking available. Go to "document gallery" for detailed driving directions
We are only 5kms away from the Interisland ferry terminal. Wellington International Airport is easily accessible.
Wellington’s unique Cable Car is only ten minutes easy walk from the guestroom. It’s handy for central city locations and the harbourfront. 10 minutes walk to Victoria University and Botanic Gardens. Te Papa, Stadium, Zealandia - Karori Wildlife Sanctuary and downtown entertainments are easily reached. We are on bus routes to further destinations.
About us
Your hosts are proud Wellingtonians and can provide, or find out, information to help you explore the city and region. Golf is Michael’s speciality and he can arrange a game. Maria enjoys Wellington’s vibrant arts and theatre scene. We enjoy getting out on Wellington’s many walkways. We have a friendly pet dog.
